Building Envelope Project Engineer

Job DescriptionDescription:The primary responsibilities of the Building Envelope Project Engineer are to assist Project Leaders in conducting and managing projects, from inception to completion, in a variety of both new and existing construction projects.The Building Envelope Project Engineer will:Review and produce design and construction documentsPerform construction observations Perform QA during constructionParticipate in condition assessments / evaluations of existing building envelope or other building systems and structures (i.e., glazing systems, cladding assemblies, roofing assemblies, waterproofing systems, parking decks, tunnels, dams, etc.). Participate in investigations of existing distress conditions and/or failing building systems and issue technical reports. Develop details and specifications to repair existing building structures or systems. Provide design assistance / building envelope consulting services on new construction projects related to building envelope systems including providing comments on the appropriate use and selection of materials and details. Document, organize, and effectively communicate field conditions to Project Leader/Team to facilitate analysis and problem solving. Perform project management tasks, including but not limited to: Completing preconstruction submittal and shop-drawing reviews. Scheduling and implementation of project needs. Reviewing and responding to RFI’s Reviewing pay application requests. Attending project meetings, oftentimes leading the meetings. Inspecting construction in progress. Coordinating and collaborating with both internal and external team members including Consultants,A/E professionals, Owners, and Contractors for successful completion of all services pertaining to the project(s) assigned. Performing project closeout tasks, including development of record drawings and issuing punch list reports including overnight periodically. Requirements:Relevant bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Science or Architectural Engineering RequiredPrevious experience working in construction, building envelope, roofing, and/or testing RequiredAt least 3 years of construction related experienceKnowledge of construction practices, terminology, building materials, field investigation methods, and scientific principles as they relate to the performance of a building. Must have the ability to write reports, business correspondences, and be able to effectively present information Requires both field and office work environment Willingness to pursue relevant certifications through ACI, ICRI and/or IIBEC is a plus.
