Program:
Promise Neighborhood (PN) is a place-based, data-driven, community transformation model that brings together community organizations, institutions, and community residents under a common set of goals, priorities, and results. Promise Neighborhood is structured as a cradle-to-career pathway, serving target communities from as early as when there is a newborn in the home to when a youth goes to college. Through this pathway, youth, parents, and community residents are served under four core pillars: Early Learning, K-12 Academic Supports, College/Career Strategies, and Community Engagement. Through these pillars, Promise Neighborhood implements targeted programming and strategies aimed to improve the conditions of well-being for the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Promise Neighborhood Program Manager, the Community Engagement Program Director is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing the Community Engagement pillar of Promise Neighborhood by providing services to community members living in the Promise Neighborhood (PN) catchment areas. The Community Engagement Program Director will be responsible for keeping with Promise Neighborhood’s goals, objectives, mission, style and theory of change provided within a collective framework congruent with the communities served.
Duties:
Responsible for the overall management of the Community Engagement Program, including goal planning, program development, daily operations planning, implementation and evaluation.
Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, developing, motivating and evaluating a diverse team.
Responsible for working with program staff to develop a strategic plan, program goals and objectives.
Pivot community engagement team, as needed, to be responsive to immediate community needs and special projects.
Serve as liaison, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, community partners, civic leaders, schools and other community-based organizations to create opportunities to collaborate.
Build and maintain relationships with local and community media groups to promote Promise Neighborhood’s program visibility.
Conduct outreach, plan and coordinate community events or projects in partnership with outside partners, groups or organizations.
Serves as the community voice on the social media front for Promise Neighborhood.
Develop and manage program budget and expenses.
Implement the Resident Leadership Academy program
Prepare reports and maintain statistical data and other vital information.
Attends all agency required meetings and training.
As other duties assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, communications or related degree required OR a minimum of 4 – 5 years of community engagement experience as an equivalency. Experience should preferably be in a community-based organization.
Familiarity with social media platforms as well as understanding of social media metrics and how to track them.
Experience in marketing non-profit programs, preferred
Experience providing education to community members.
Experience supervising volunteers and staff in participating in community events/projects.
Ability to work independently and effectively problem-solve.
Possess initiative, ability to set goals, and prioritize while being highly organized.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) with fluent proficiency in speaking and writing, required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to network, develop, navigate and maintain strong partner relationships.
Bicultural, preferred to understand the needs of PN students and families.
Ability to build effective relationships and trust with community residents in the communities being served.
Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate program, committee, and community meetings.
Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
Conditions of Employment
Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.

Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver’s license and valid auto insurance policy.
