Chief Commercial Officer
The CCO drives PPA origination, project and platform M&A, and commercial optimization across major US wholesale markets (ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, MISO, SPP) and regulated utility markets, while building strategic partnerships. Working in close coordination with Development, EPC, Finance, and Legal, the CCO plays a central role in bringing projects to COD and ensuring long-term profitability.Key ResponsibilitiesOrigination & Off-take StrategyStructure, negotiate, and execute large-scale PPAs and Tolling Agreements for C&I and utility off-takersDevelop merchant exposure and hedging strategies to maximize returns across solar and BESS assetsMonitor regulatory developments (IRA, Domestic Content Bonus, ISO/RTO rule changes) and integrate into commercial structuresMarket Intelligence & OptimizationAnalyze nodal pricing, basis risk, and interconnection risks across ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, MISO, and SPP to prioritize pipeline developmentOptimize BESS market participation strategies including energy arbitrage and ancillary servicesTrack and respond to policy and market rule changes impacting portfolio performanceM&A & Strategic TransactionsLead commercial due diligence on early and late-stage project acquisitions and platform-level M&AEvaluate interconnection queue status, site control, and EPC feasibility for new acquisitionsDrive JV structuring and negotiations with co-developers, tax equity investors, and strategic partnersCross-Functional LeadershipCollaborate with Development, EPC, Finance, and Legal to resolve bottlenecks and drive projects to CODLead and mentor the Commercial, Origination, and Analytics teamsReport commercial strategy, pipeline performance, and financial forecasts to senior leadershipQualifications15+ years in utility-scale solar and BESS (Co-located and Stand-alone)Proven track record closing complex PPAs and BESS Tolling Agreements for multi-hundred MW projectsDeep knowledge of US power market structures (major ISO/RTO) and M&A processesStrong industry network across utilities, C&I off-takers, tax equity, and EPC; excellent negotiation and communication skills
