Sr. Electrical Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and support electrical and controls engineering initiatives across manufacturing and facility operations. This role is responsible for managing projects, solving complex technical challenges, and partnering with cross‑functional teams to improve safety, reliability, and performance. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, a hands-on approach, and experience in industrial manufacturing environments.REPORTINGThe Senior Electrical Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager.Accountabilities Lead and support electrical engineering projects, including capital and expense initiatives. Provide technical expertise and day-to-day support for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, codes, and company policies. Develop expertise in electrical power distribution, automation, and control systems. Lead and support compliance efforts related to NEC, NFPA 70, arc flash, and electrical safety programs. Troubleshoot and optimize control systems including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and drives. Support integration and optimization of manufacturing and production systems such as MES, ERP, and machine interfaces. Maintain accurate electrical, controls, and system documentation. Identify process constraints and implement solutions to improve reliability, efficiency, and operational flexibility. Perform failure analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability. Manage project budgets, track costs, and communicate project status to stakeholders. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technical staff. Develop and deliver training for engineering, operations, and maintenance teams. Follow environmental, health, and safety policies and report incidents or hazards as required.Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field. 3–5+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. Experience troubleshooting and supporting electrical and control systems on automated or continuous production equipment. Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, DCS, and electrical power distribution systems. Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, and electrical safety standards. Proven ability to manage projects and work effectively in cross-functional teams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including training and presentations. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the pulp and paper industry is strongly preferred. Experience in similar continuous-process manufacturing environments is also highly valued, including but not limited to: Chemicals Food and beverage Metals Plastics Fiber, packaging, or consumer goods manufacturing Familiarity with high-speed production processes and asset-intensive facilities.
