Senior Accountant - Consultant
Job Title: Senior AccountantPosition OverviewThe Senior Accountant will support the accounting team by managing key components of the month-end close process and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. This role is critical in stabilizing workload due to team turnover and requires a candidate who can operate independently and contribute immediately. Note:This is a contract role with no potential for full-time conversionExtension possible based on business needs Key ResponsibilitiesMonth-End Close & Financial ReportingSupport monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting in the general ledger in accordance with GAAPPrepare and upload journal entries, including booking and validationPerform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain proper supporting documentation Analysis & ReconciliationInvestigate significant variances and unexpected resultsReview and assess exception reports from both quantitative and qualitative perspectivesProvide detailed financial analysis to support business decisions Audit & Compliance SupportAssist with preparing documentation and responding to requests from external auditors and internal audit teamsEnsure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with FP&A and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on financial dataLead meetings with internal customers and management to review account balances and ensure proper accrualsServe as a liaison between Finance and business units regarding P&L inquiries and financial questions Process Improvement & SystemsIdentify and recommend process improvements to increase operational efficiencyUtilize Microsoft Excel and general ledger systems to develop models and streamline accounting processesImplement tools and enhancements to improve data accuracy and reduce manual effort Additional ResponsibilitiesPerform ad hoc accounting and financial analysis tasks as needed Required Qualifications5+ years of accounting experienceStrong experience with month-end close processes, including: Journal entriesBalance sheet reconciliationsVariance analysisExperience working with FP&A teamsSolid understanding of GAAPAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelAbility to work independently and manage workload with minimal supervision Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting audits (external and internal)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience driving process improvements and system enhancements Nesco Resource offers a comprehensive benefits package for our associates, which includes a MEC (Minimum Essential Coverage) plan that encompasses Medical, Vision, Dental, 401K, and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) services.
