Partnering closely with the VP of Design and cross-functional teams, this role will contribute to the creation and execution of seasonal collections across multiple categories, from concept through production. The ideal candidate is highly creative, trend-aware, detail-oriented, and passionate about designing product that inspires and connects with our customer.This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where creativity, innovation, and strong product storytelling are highly valued. Responsibilities include developing concepts and seasonal assortments, creating tech packs and flat sketches, maintaining visual line plans, participating in fittings, and partnering with Product Development and Technical Design to ensure design integrity and execution excellence throughout the product lifecycle.Essential Job FunctionsLead the design and execution of women’s lifestyle collections across cut & sew knits, sweaters, outerwear, soft accessories, and seasonal capsule collectionsDrive concept development through trend research, fabric innovation, color direction, and market analysis to create commercially successful collectionsDevelop seasonal design boards, silhouettes, trim direction, and category strategies aligned with brand identity and business goalsPartner cross-functionally with Product Development, Merchandising, Technical Design, and Production teams throughout the product lifecycleCreate detailed tech packs, garment sketches, construction callouts, and trim developments to ensure accurate execution with overseas vendorsOversee fit sessions and provide clear fit, construction, and aesthetic direction to maintain design integrity and brand standardsManage and mentor Associate and Assistant Designers, providing leadership, creative direction, and professional development supportCollaborate closely with vendors and mills on fabric sourcing, wash development, print execution, and costing initiativesSupport in seasonal presentations including line reviews and product strategies to senior leadership teamMaintain seasonal line plans, style tracking, and development calendars while ensuring deadlines and deliverables are consistently metDrive innovation through new silhouettes, fabrication techniques, sustainable initiatives, and emerging market trendsAudit and review all seasonal collateral including tech packs, line sheets, visual boards, and product decks for accuracy and consistencyCreate and manage trim developments, artwork direction, graphic applications, and packaging details where applicableSupport special projects, collaborations, and limited-edition launches from concept through production executionEnsure all collections balance creative vision, customer relevance, margin goals, and brand positioningAttend fittings and production meetings regularly to maintain product quality, fit consistency, and design intent throughout developmentRequired Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesSkill in completing multiple tasks at onceSkill in oral and written communicationAbility to communicate professionally with coworkers, customers, and vendorsAbility to work independently and meet managerial goalsAbility to follow oral and written instructionsSweater experience is a plusExpert in creating tech packsExpert knowledge in IllustratorAdvanced understanding of garment construction and washAbility to sketch flat garments and make construction call outsMust be positive, a critical thinker, organized, a team player, very detail-oriented, and a fast learnerKnowledge of Microsoft OS (excel, outlook, teams) & Apple OS (the company laptop is a mac) & Adobe Illustrator and PhotoshopKnowledge of PLM software a plus but not requiredRequired Education And ExperienceCollege degree in Apparel Design or related field preferredMinimum 6-8 years of experience designing women’s cut & sew knits and/or wovensStrong expertise in seasonal collection development, garment construction, fittings, and cross-functional collaborationProven ability to lead product from concept through production in a fast-paced environmentExperience mentoring junior team members and partnering with vendors and overseas factoriesThis position is on-site at the Spiritual Gangster Los Angeles, CA office with remote work on most Fridays.BenefitsBenefits & PerksMultiple Medical plans, plus HSA and FSA optionsDental & VisionLife Insurance - 2x annual earnings paid by company401k PlanSupplemental Life and Accident Insurance optionsVacation and Sick leavePerksComplimentary daily office snacks and beveragesDog-friendly officeFree swagGenerous employee discount on productsAnnual Holiday PartyInvitations to pop-ups and other company eventsSpiritual Gangster provides equal employment opportunities to all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, military or veteran status, genetic information, or any other protected classification.
