After School Director
Job Purpose
The Program Site Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the afterschool site programming. (S)he will develop, coordinate and ensure quality implementation of all grant program short and long-term goals and objectives. The successful candidate will be a proven leader who understands the importance of analyzing data to inform thoughts and decision-making. (S)he will utilize classroom management skills to ensure a safe place for youth and staff. (S)he will be a dedicated professional that constantly seeks improved ways of approaching the work so that Literacy West NY can better serve our youth, parents and partners.
Responsibilities
Develops, plans for, provides, and directs the activities of the youth program
Oversees daily programmatic operations to ensure youth receive the highest quality educational and support services in a safe environment
Collects, analyzes, and uses data to effectively manage the program and demonstrate results
Promotes quality programming by providing curriculum development and coordinating ongoing program improvement
Assists in the evaluation of program results by providing leadership in all phases of program development and implementation processes including data collection and evaluation processes
Plans for and directs the youth program site services to ensure the programs are always on track to consistently meet outlined goals
Provides program development by recommending and providing ongoing improvements to ensure positive results for all participants
Prepares reports for partners, funders, leadership, and board
Serves as a leader to further develop the program and improve service delivery
Leads, manages, and develops staff to ensure they have the skills necessary to effectively provide program services
Maintains a strong culture of accountability of standards, best practices, and outcomes to recruit, retain, monitor, and support our students and staff
Forms positive relationships and effective communications with students, parents, staff, partners, and Literacy West leadership
Manages multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
Participates in agency-wide functions and project activities
Demonstrates integrity and acts as a role model for staff, students, children, and families
Participates in professional development and community activities
Actively serves as a member of the team
Provides recommendations and feedback to leadership on program changes, improvements, and new development projects
Ensures SACC compliance and required staff ratios
Performs other duties as assigned
Reports to: Literacy West Regional Manager
Immediate Supervisor: Literacy West Regional Manager
Work Site: Literacy West-Belmont, NY, and Fillmore Central School-Fillmore, NY
FSLA: Non-Exempt
Hours: 35
Salary: $20.00/hr.
Term: Through June 30, 2026 contingent upon funding streams beyond grant period
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Child Development, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related Human Service field AND a minimum of two years' experience in a position involving knowledge of youth and human service community agencies AND direct experience with children and at-risk populations required. Reliable transportation and valid New York State Driver's License required. Experience with Microsoft computer applications and ability to communicate with and manage electronic mail software required. Fingerprint and background clearance required under LAWS of New York 2001, CHAPTER 180 and its subsequent amendments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an educational setting and classroom management. Previous work experience with demonstrated reliability and organizational skills. Demonstrated verbal and electronic communication skills. Knowledge of the social service system and agency-based responses available for student/youth intervention services.
