Job Developer

Job Summary The Job Developer connects apprenticeship participants with employment opportunities by building relationships with employers, understanding labor market trends, and matching job seekers with appropriate positions. Duties Develop and maintain employer partnerships Identify job openings and create placement opportunities Match apprentices with employment aligned with their training Conduct employer outreach and presentations Track employment outcomes and provide follow-up support Assist in resume building and interview preparation for participants Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in job placement, workforce development, or recruitment within the skilled trades or apprenticeships in Illinois. Trade Knowledge: Familiarity with apprenticeship programs, skilled trade professions, labor market trends, and employer partner needs. Regulatory Awareness: Working knowledge of Illinois workforce funding, apprenticeship standards, and related compliance requirements. Communication & Relationship Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities; proven capability to build and maintain partnerships with employers, education providers, and workforce agencies. Outreach Capacity: Demonstrated success in outreach strategies, job readiness activities, candidate recruitment, and placement services. Organizational Skills: Excellent time management, documentation, and data-tracking skills; able to manage multiple client cases and employer leads simultaneously. Technology Proficiency: Competent with Microsoft Office Suite, candidate tracking systems, and applicant/job matching platforms. Travel & Flexibility: Valid driver’s license and ability to travel if required. Willingness to attend employer meetings or job fairs outside of standard hours if needed. Strategic thinker with a client/employer-focused mindset. Ability to advocate for apprentices and employers alike. Goal-oriented with measurable outcomes in placements and retention.
