Job DetailsDescriptionPosition Title: Garden Laborer – Youth WorkerDepartment: St. Isidore’s Garden-Fitchburg WIEmployment Type: Full Time SeasonalFLSA Status: Non ExemptAbout UsFrostwood Farms is a hay and crop farming operation located in Fitchburg, WI. One acre of land is dedicated to growing tomatoes and peppers, our St. Isidore Garden. The Frostwood Farms Team is comprised of the Farm Team and the Garden Team who work together to tend the land.As a Youth Gardener, you’ll work with a team to care for a one-acre garden that produces thousands of pounds of fresh vegetables for our community.Key ResponsibilitiesGarden Care & MaintenanceTend to a one-acre garden with approximately 3,200 plants.Perform daily tasks such as weeding, watering, pruning, stringing, harvesting, and disease prevention.Help maintain crop health and productivity—show extra love to the plants (especially the tomatoes).Workplace Organization & SafetyArrive on time and ready to work each day.Follow all safety protocols, including wearing seatbelts when traveling.Keep the garden and work areas tidy: clean up after yourself, properly put away tools, and pick up litter.If tools or equipment are misplaced, return them to their proper place.Teamwork & CommunityBe respectful toward supervisors, coworkers, and community members.Embrace teamwork and positive group norms while on the job.Participate in building a friendly, inclusive, and supportive work culture.Remember the mission: growing food to strengthen community food security in Madison.Personal WellbeingTake care of yourself: drink water, eat, apply sunscreen, and listen to your body.Communicate with staff if you’re struggling or need help.Representation & ConductRepresent St. Isidore’s Garden/Frostwood Farms with respect and professionalism at all times—whether on-site, in vans, at donation sites, or during group outings.Enjoy the ExperienceHave fun!
