Chief of Staff – Office of the Chancellor
Job Summary
The Chief of Staff serves as a key member of the Executive Cabinet responsible for the central coordination of all activities and ensures accurate and timely flow of information to and from the Chancellor’s Office. Responsible for the efficient operation of the Chancellor’s office, including management of scheduling, operations, and for the management of Board Services. Performs a wide range of executive and high level administrative duties of broad scope and complexity requiring outstanding professional ability, originality, mature judgment, and a thorough knowledge of programs and organizational structure of the College. Provides trusted advice and counsel to the Chancellor on all matters related to HCC. Will provide coordination and liaison with Executive Cabinet members on virtually any matter of interest to the Chancellor, between the Chancellor and other officials and constituencies locally and across the state and represent the Chancellor to internal and external audiences.
Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets, are safeguarded; financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Manages Talent Engagement activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, and performance evaluations.
Essential Functions
Establish priorities and agendas, research issues of importance and sensitivity, and produce briefing materials and information on all significant matters that require the Chancellor’s attention.
Respond to and meet with broad range of internal and external individuals and groups, frequently related to matters of immediate concern, and coordinate responses, solutions, and follow-up with the Chancellor and other appropriate College officers.
Evaluate, research, provide substantive and analytic information, and an assessment to the Chancellor regarding the academic and external communities, and a variety of other issues in order to advise and assist the Chancellor.
Monitor and manage special projects and initiatives established by the Chancellor to ensure timely and successful completion.
Attend each meeting of the Board of Trustees.
Serve as liaison with College governance through attendance at College Faculty Senate and Staff Forum and monitor public policy issues.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Master’s degree required
Doctorate degree preferred
10 years academic or management experience required
Licensing & Certification

General Office.
