Buyer for Sporting Goods-Headquarters

Big R is looking for a buyer to purchase all Sporting Goods and Automotive. This buyer will be purchasing these categories for all 37 locations. Below are the requirements along with the benefits. $80,000-$90,000 Annual Salary (wage based on experience) This is not a remote position; all work is done from Big R’s home office in Pueblo, CO. Responsibilities: Identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends. Evaluate supplier options according to prices, quality etc. and determine the best choices. Discover and purchase new products and ensure the quality and popularity of items already on the shelf. Negotiate terms of agreement to achieve the best programs for Big R. Monitor stock levels and purchase within budget. Ensure timely delivery of products and compliance with the contracts of purchase. Review and create reports on sales and budgets and adjust your strategies accordingly. Forge and maintain trust relationships with suppliers to promote fair dealing. Attending events and trade shows to remain up to date with the market trends. Ability to calculate gross margin, OTB and Turn ratio. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or 3+ years buyer, retail management, or category experience. Extensive Knowledge of Sporting Goods and Automotive categories. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and problem solve. Professional attitude and appearance Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical skills and good judgement Detail oriented and self-motivated Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and be a team player. Domestic travel as needed. Up to 30+ nights a year. Required to work 45 hours per week.
