OB/GYN - Medical Director & Laborist - Syracuse, NY

Job Description Our organization is in search of a skilled Board Certified OB/GYN Physician for a distinctive leadership role that merges clinical and administrative responsibilities. This position entails 0.9 FTE Laborist clinical duties alongside 0.1 FTE Medical Director leadership tasks, allowing for the delivery of exceptional obstetric care while influencing the strategic vision, quality, and culture of our comprehensive OB/GYN program. With a manageable schedule, robust subspecialty support, and a physician-friendly atmosphere, this opportunity is perfect for seasoned OB/GYN professionals eager to make a difference in the Syracuse, NY community.Position Overview:Work seven 24-hour shifts monthly (equivalent to full-time) with no additional on-call duties, promoting a favorable work-life balance.Manage laboring patients, handling both routine and complex deliveries.Collaborate with a dedicated team of midwives, OB/GYN colleagues, and subspecialists.Utilize advanced robotics, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery techniques, and comprehensive gynecologic surgical support.Medical Director Leadership Duties:Collaborate with administrative leaders to manage departmental operations, including budgeting, policy formulation, and protocol revisions.Drive quality improvement projects, utilization reviews, and clinical performance assessments.Oversee clinical documentation, care planning, and peer evaluations.Engage in provider recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, and performance evaluations.Ensure a patient-centered approach and maintain high standards of care throughout the division.Opportunity Highlights:Provide in-hospital obstetric coverage for a range of deliveries, from low to high-risk cases, at our facility.Chance to develop and lead a comprehensive Women & Infants service line.Access to a Level III NICU at our hospital.Utilize Level III Ultrasound services, with strong support from Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists and midwifery services.Benefit from advanced robotics and minimally invasive gynecologic surgical options.Enjoy supportive leadership that emphasizes sustainability and physician well-being.Annual system volume of approximately 1,600 deliveries.Qualifications:Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.Experience as a Laborist or in obstetric-focused roles is highly preferred.Proven interest or background in leadership and quality improvement initiatives.Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.Dedication to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.Compensation Package:Annual salary range: $325,000-$340,000.Additional compensation for extra shifts.Starting bonus of $50,000.Retention bonuses of $25,000 at the start of the second and third years.The stated salary reflects the initial total compensation range and does not include productivity bonuses, quality incentives, additional shifts, or other cash compensation.
