KIRKSVILLE R-III SCHOOL DISTRICTPOSITION TITLE: Pathways Success Center TeacherMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:Valid Missouri teaching certificatePossession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the positionEXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED:Teaching experience preferredPrior experience in an alternative educational setting is preferredCONTRACT DAYS WORKED: 9 MonthsTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Wage and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education.REPORTS TO: Building principalJOB GOAL: To provide academic opportunities for students deficient in credits to successfully reach graduation.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.Implements and monitors intervention programs for all students.Demonstrate effective and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, and the community and the ability to work as a productive and solid member of the school district.Utilize effective communication with students establishing secure teacher-student relationships within the boundaries required to create and maintain a positive culture.Utilize data from multiple sources to analyze progress, modify instruction, and monitor effectiveness of instructional efforts.Communicate student progress to multiple professionals, parents, and students as appropriate for the purpose of improving learning and maintaining records.Develop and maintain an efficient and consistent process for student applications to the center as well as conducting interviews with prospective students.Initiates, designs, implements programs to meet and enhance specific school/student needs.Establish guidelines for proper student conduct, maintains student discipline logs, and communicates discipline with corresponding school.Regular and reliable attendance is necessary in order to perform the functions of this positionConducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.Maintain familiarity with district and Missouri standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests.Continuously engage in professional learning for the elevation of curriculum delivery.OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:*Other duties as assigned. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties.PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:Duties performed typically in district settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas and other assigned areas.Physical demands can include but are not limited to: Exerts up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects including equipment such as audio-visual.Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and other limited physical activities are required.Mental demands can include but are not limited to: Comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:HIRING AND EMPLOYMENT COMPLIANCE:The district's hiring procedures will comply with all federal and state laws, including laws prohibiting discrimination.
