Basic understanding of shuttle wagon operations as well as pump/blower operation experience (preferably FIKE systems). Analyze problems or deviations and ensure timely corrective actions are taken. The Resin Rail Operator is responsible for receiving/shipping all raw materials transported by rail to Polyplex. The position also requires the unloading of raw materials to the appropriate Resin storage silos. This will require operating the shuttle wagon and will also require operating the unloading equipment for the raw materials (liquid and powder) by way of mechanical pump and blower. This will require basic knowledge of the maintenance of these systems (ex. cleaning filters for equipment, trouble-shooting shuttle wagon failures). Finally, when not engaged in these operations, it may be necessary to assist other parts of the plant in various roles (Resin, Warehouse). This will not require knowledge specific to these areas but instead additional labor may be required.Job Duties and ResponsibilityFollow safety procedures for machine and activities and perform safe operational activities in order to avoid safety incidentsBe aware when it may be necessary to clean various filters in order to retain good flow and unloading speedKeep rail unloading work area clean and free from debrisMake lead operator in resin aware when it is necessary to perform maintenance on any and all rail unloading equipment (ex: shuttle wagon, pump, blower, filter)Execute raw material handling, charging and monitoring consumption in prescribed formatCo-ordination with resin lead/filter cleaning agency for filter readiness.End-to-end waste handling within the shift. Waste disposal at designated placeWriting shift reports and making others aware of abnormalities (process, product, machine) during shiftWhen not engaged in rail specific tasks, it may be necessary to help with other sections of the plantReading and understanding work instructions in work group areaAdditional duties as assignedSubmit sample of each rail car to resin lab operator for quality checks BEFORE unloading rail carIf necessary, reject arriving rail cars that fail quality control checksPrevent contamination of raw materials during shipping and unloadingMaintain proper housekeeping of the rail yard and work area based on 5S principlesKeep log book of all received/shipped rail cars and dates of when they were received/unloaded/shipped outAssist in implementing and maintaining ISO standards (ex. - ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 & ISO 22000) in work groupSuggest and implement kaizen (Improvements) to improve overall performance in terms of PQCDSME.
