Greets, assists, and provides information for customers and staff.Essential Job FunctionsSorts, arranges and files a wide variety of materials in alphabetical, numerical, or chronological sequence; searches for requested information, and relays it to appropriate individual; photocopies documents and assembles in proper order. Composes routine correspondence: ensures that card, correspondence, and record files are current; makes simple arithmetical computations.Answers telephone and conveys messages; checks voicemail and routes appropriately; runs errands; greets and assists customers. Stamps, sorts and distributes mail; addresses envelopes or packages; stuffs envelopes by hand or with an envelope stuffing machine Inputs a variety of data into computer system. Inputs a variety of data into computer system. Scans documents, photos, or microfiche, ensuring documents or photos are clear.Knowledge/Skills:Basic knowledge of office procedures; of filing systems; of English usage; and of basic math. Ability to learn and adhere to department procedures and policy. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; to extract information from files; to operate basic office machines; and to maintain confidentiality.Basic skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheet, database and other software programs in a Windows environment or ability to learn such skills.Skilled in providing effective customer service.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions:Work is generally performed in an office setting. Work schedule may include overtime hours. May occasionally work outside. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Clarity of vision at short distance is required. May be required to lift up to 20 pounds. On occasion, may be exposed to dust, fumes, airborne particles, or allergens; to excessive noise; and to working near hazardous or moving equipment or machinery. May regularly experience hostile, violent, or offensive individuals. May be subject to exposure to CRTs, VDTs and UV rays.Conditions of Employment:Selected candidate must submit to and pass a County paid pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
