About the Role
The Machine Operator / Printer is responsible for safely operating production equipment, preparing materials, monitoring machine performance, and supporting quality standards throughout each production run. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow work orders and procedures, and a strong commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing environment.
Primary Duties
Proficiently navigate the Epicor system, accurately complete required paperwork, and stock the correct materials needed to perform daily job assignments.
Ensure all required materials are received, verified, and properly staged for each production job.
Maintain machines and the immediate work area in clean, organized, and safe conditions.
Properly store inks and ensure they are adequately agitated prior to each production run.
Continuously monitor machine parameters after supervisor approval of start-up and promptly notify Maintenance of any equipment issues.
Read, understand, and follow work orders, packaging instructions, and any special customer or production requirements.
Review and follow all equipment storage and maintenance procedures to ensure proper operation and longevity.
Additional Responsibilities
Demonstrate proficiency in taking and applying measurements required for production tasks.
Develop a working knowledge of winding tension, brake control, compression settings, lay-on roller adjustments, print cylinder movement, and other machine components.
Accept responsibility for minimizing trim loss and production waste generated during machine operation.
Quality Control Responsibilities
Obtain and properly store retain samples for quality approval.
Perform quality tests as required, including the 610-tape test, dyne level testing, and gloss testing.
Verify that the correct ink color is prepared and used for each production job.
Identify and recognize common print and production defects.
Demonstrate a basic understanding of ink viscosity and properly use Zahn cups and pH meters for testing and adjustments.
Education and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Knowledge and Skills
Basic knowledge of hand tools and their use in daily manufacturing operations.
Working knowledge of 5S principles and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Ability to perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures safely and correctly.
Consistently follow all safety policies, procedures, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Work Schedule
The position follows a rotating 12-hour schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The schedule alternates weekly as follows:
· Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
· Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
· The schedule rotates on an ongoing basis.
