We offer our full-time employees a competitive salary, bonus opportunities, and a full benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, disability, employer-matching 401(k), and opportunities for advancement!RequirementsDuties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms forensic assignments within the field of mechanical engineering expertise based on a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the workInvestigates how and why an incident occurred and determines whether it was a result of mechanical failure of equipmentInspects sites/products/equipment; performs analysis of commercial and non-commercial equipment; determines cause and origin of damage; performs mechanical engineering analysis and calculations; prepares sketches as requiredConducts various analyses including, but not limited to, equipment and machinery design and failure; industrial incidents; product failure and liability; and materials analysisPrepares of oral and written reports to document analysis, extent of loss, associated repair scope, and/or recommended remediation stepsDetermines and provides expert opinions. Provides expert testimony in deposition and trial as required. Manages multiple projects and works with other experts as neededUses equations, applications, techniques, tools, and resources to analyze issuesHas knowledge of and ability to understand industry and safety standardsHas ability to initiate, develop, and maintain client relationshipsHas ability to take technical photographs, conduct investigations, document on-site conditions, oversee testing, and review documentationRequired Skills And AbilitiesHigh level of analytical skill. Work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, perform analysis, and draw valid conclusions in accordance with industry practices and the scientific methodAble to interact and communicate with clients both (internal and externalAble to research scientific and technical principles and apply them to specific casesAble to read, understand, and analyze expert reportsAble to write clearly and coherently, including reports of findings, proposals, general correspondence, budget estimates, and other technical documentsAble to respond to inquiries from internal and external clients efficientlyCapable of effectively presenting information to management, clients, public groups, or others as requiredRequired Experience, Education and Certifications:B.S. Mechanical or Engineering Physics degree or equivalent from an accredited programACTAR accreditation and/or Commercial Vehicle Expertise a plusHuman Factors degree is highly valuedF.E. exam completedP.E. licensure or ability to complete PE license within one yearMinimum 5 years of experience, including knowledge of machinery, commercial vehicles and/or heavy equipmentAdditional experience is a benefitValid driver's license and reliable form of transportation required. Local travel by personal vehicle including transportation of tools and instruments is requiredPhysical Demands, Overtime, And Travel RequirementsPhysical Demands - Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. incident sites). Employee is required to stand, walk, sit, climb, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to incident sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking and interacting with clients, preparing written reports of findings, and potentially testify in deposition or trial. Clear vision and depth perception are necessaryOvertime - This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. However, our consultants are able to make their own schedules, and we allow for a large amount of flexibility as long as the clients' needs are met. Occasional odd working hours may be required due to the nature of investigationsTravel Requirements - This position requires up to 25% overnight travel.
