Company Description Ironveil Game Studio is an independent game development studio focused on creating immersive, system-driven interactive experiences. Specializing in systems-oriented gameplay, Ironveil combines tactical depth with engaging worldbuilding to reward strategic thinking and mastery.Our current project, Abyssfall: The Black Citadel, is a 2D tower defense game featuring real-time combat, RPG-style progression, and player-controlled abilities. As an early-stage studio based in San Diego, CA, we are focused on building strong gameplay systems, clear visual identity, and scalable design.---Role DescriptionThis is a part-time, remote role for a 2D Game Artist (Sprite Animation). The role involves creating production-ready tower assets and simple sprite-based animations for a 2D tower defense game.You will work directly with the founder to establish a consistent visual style and rapidly produce in-game assets that will be used immediately in development.---Role Details- Part-time: 10 hours per week- Compensation: $17/hour- 8-10 weeks based on needs- Remote, flexible schedule- Immediate start---Responsibilities- Create 2D tower assets for a tower defense game- Produce sprite animations (typically ~10 frames per set)- Maintain consistency in style, scale, and perspective- Export clean sprite sheets (aligned frames, no guides, transparent background)- Iterate quickly based on gameplay feedback---Production Expectation- Target output: 2-3 sprite sets per week- Each set includes about 10 frames- Focus is on speed, consistency, and usability in-game rather than high-detail illustration---Qualifications- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Art, Game Design, Animation, or a related field- Experience with digital art tools (Photoshop, Aseprite, Clip Studio, etc.)- Interest in game development---Preferred Qualifications- Experience creating sprite sheets or frame-by-frame animation- Familiarity with Godot, Unity, or Unreal- Personal or academic game projects---Important Notes- This role is focused on game assets, not illustration or concept art- Assets will be used directly in-game, so clean output is critical- Speed and consistency are more important than high detail- There will be NO TRAINING, you will be the only one on the team that knows anything about art, so make sure you have confident to work by youself for most of time---Ideal CandidateThis role is ideal for students or junior artist looking to gain real game development experience and build a portfolio with shipped assets while working closely with a founder on a live project.
