Supplier Development Engineer (Full Time – On Site in Moorpark, CA)

Third Party International is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to support a full-time, on-site role in Moorpark, California. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with a leading defense and aerospace manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate will bring strong supplier-facing experience, technical manufacturing knowledge, and the ability to support qualification, onboarding, and improvement of critical suppliers.
About the Role
You will be responsible for driving supplier readiness, performance, and compliance to support the manufacture and delivery of aerospace and defense components. This includes evaluating suppliers, managing technical and quality requirements, supporting PPAP and qualification efforts, and collaborating closely with supply chain and engineering teams to ensure program success.
This role is critical to ensuring supply continuity, technical compliance, and cost-effective sourcing for highly engineered products such as ordnance systems, energetic components, and complex assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and develop suppliers to meet technical, quality, and delivery requirements
Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and compliance to customer and regulatory standards
Lead or support PPAP, FAI, and other advanced quality planning processes
Collaborate with engineering and supply chain teams to review drawings, specifications, and technical flowdowns
Identify supplier risks and lead improvement efforts where gaps in capability or performance exist
Conduct on-site visits, audits, and reviews with suppliers to support development and sustainment
Track supplier performance metrics and support cross-functional resolution of supplier-related issues
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing
Strong background in supplier quality, supplier development, or manufacturing engineering
Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR, and other industry standards
Experience with PPAP, FAI, CAPA, and root cause analysis
Excellent communication and supplier relationship management skills
Ability to read engineering drawings, interpret GD&T, and understand complex BOMs
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and quality documentation
Must be able to work full-time on site in Moorpark, CA
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with ordnance, energetic devices, or highly engineered assemblies
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
Knowledge of DFARS flowdowns, supplier audits, or source inspections
