Job Summary : The General Laborer / Helper will perform physical tasks at construction sites, including operating hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing sites, loading and unloading materials, and assisting other skilled labor as needed. The role requires the ability to follow instructions from supervisors, control traffic, and learn from on-the-job training.Duties and responsibilities:Assist equipment operators and other skilled labor when necessaryClean work sites of obstacles and hazardsLoad and unload materialsFollow instructions from supervisorsControl traffic passing near, in, or around work zonesLearn from on-the-job trainingPerform site clean-upSignal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materialsRead plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activitiesLoad, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to appropriate locationsMeasure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas for construction workDig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specificationsErect or dismantle temporary structuresProvide assistance to craft workersLubricate, clean, or repair machinery, equipment, or toolsassist with Removal of railroad tiesRequirementsEssential qualifications:Valid driver's licenseAt least 18 years of ageAbility to perform physical labor and other strenuous tasksAbility to work in all weather conditionsPunctual and reliableAuthorized to work in the United StatesMust pass drug screening and background checksCapable of lifting up to 50 lbs.Working conditions:Work is performed outdoors at construction sites in all weather conditionsFrequent lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects and materialsFrequent bending, stooping, and kneelingFrequent standing and walking on uneven surfacesFrequent exposure to loud noise, dust, and fumesFrequent exposure to hazardous materials and sharp objectsPhysical requirements:Must be able to lift up to 50 poundsMust be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders, and work at heightsGood hand-eye coordination and manual dexterityGood vision, including depth perception and peripheral visionGood hearing and ability to communicate effectively in a noisy environment.
