What To ExpectAs a Process Engineering Technician at Tesla, you'll drive the implementation and continuous improvement of internal material logistics conveyance systems. This hands-on role involves operational checks, guiding teams with best practices, boosting efficiency, and ensuring material flow accuracy. Collaborating cross-departmentally, you'll design, refine, and optimize conveyance methods, layouts, and replenishment strategies to deliver materials safely and effectively for high-volume production.What You'll DoCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production Process Engineering, Material Planning, Packaging Engineering, NPI, and Factory Software, to design and enhance all aspects of material flowDevelop and implement material flow strategies for lineside part presentation, conveyance, warehousing, and related areas to support high-volume, high-complexity manufacturingLearn and utilize our internally developed material management system (MFS - Material Flow System) to configure systematic process flow steps that align with defined physical processesPrepare and maintain detailed documentation, such as process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical reports, to support new process rolloutsSupport the engineering team on floor by conducting process experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and identifying opportunities for improvement, efficiency gains, cost reductions, safety enhancements, and increased productivity under the direction of process engineersApply lean manufacturing tools (e.g., 5S, 5T, waste/loss identification, value stream mapping, work measurement, and problem-solving methodologies) to optimize manufacturing processes and material flow efficiency, including balancing aisle congestion across intersections to reduce operational costsComplete weekly reports, capturing all downtime, safety issues, equipment problems, quality concerns, material shortages, and other limiters; document incidents, interventions, and operational feedback accurately in Tesla’s standard presentation formatWhat You'll BringRelevant Engineering degree or 2-3 years in manufacturing, warehouse operations, or material handling or equivalent experience Basic Proficiency with operational checks, inventory management, layout design (e.g., lineside/warehouse setups), and tools like Excel and PowerPoint for recording, monitoring, and analyzing dataStrong analytical skills for evaluating processes, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing improvements to streamline material flow and eliminate non value added activitiesExcellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-departmental teamwork, including providing feedback in continuous improvement loopsMust have command of the English language, both written and verbalEssential Physical Demands:Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrainFrequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a dayClimb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearingWearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelinesBenefitsCompensation and BenefitsAlong with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program
