Job Title: LPS Safety and Security CoordinatorExemption Status: ExemptAdministrator in an Educational EstablishmentReports to: Chief Operations OfficerDate Revised: 04/06/2025Primary Purpose:Ensure the safety and security of Leadership Prep School campuses, facilities, students, staff, and visitors. Coordinate emergency preparedness, law enforcement response, and safety initiatives. Serve as a certified School Marshal and lead efforts in security operations, emergency planning, and safety education.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High school diploma or equivalent (required)Bachelor's degree (preferred)Coursework or certification in public safety, emergency management, school safety, or related fields (preferred)Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of emergency operations planning, NIMS, FEMA, and applicable safety lawFamiliarity with criminal investigations, law enforcement procedures, and report writingProficiency in security-related technology (e.g., surveillance systems, access control, mass notification)Strong interpersonal, organizational, and public relations skillsEffective verbal and written communication, including policy and report draftingAbility to manage multiple projects and respond effectively under pressureExceptional judgment, work ethic, and attention to detailExperience:* 3-5 years in safety, security, or law enforcement (preferred)Major Responsibilities and Duties:Safety and Security OperationsSupervise and direct the daily safety and security operations across all LPS campusesEnsure LPS campuses are 100% compliant with the TXSSC requirementsBe the point of contact and district lead for the Texas Education Agency's Sentinel data application.Organize and Lead District Behavioral Threat Assessments (BTA), District Vulnerability Assessments(DVA), and Intruder Detection Audits (IDA) as required by TXSSC.Attend all required TXSSC trainings and train administrators to implement all relevant safety requirements and protocolsRespond to emergencies and coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency respondersMonitor and report safety hazards, breaches, and irregularitiesMonitor district surveillance systems and provide campuses with pertinent informationConduct internal investigations and prepare incident reportsImplement and evaluate security systems and protocolsDevelop and implement preventative safety programs and drillsConduct and support mandated safety audits and emergency preparedness exercisesWork in partnership with local LEA and local school districts to ensure EOP procedures are ready to be implemented.Administration of the campus Raptor system.Respond and organize all emergency operations support in conjunction with campus LEA/SRO and campus administrators.Conduct and record weekly door audits at each campusMaintain and supervise access control and key inventory systems logs for each campusTraining and DevelopmentAttend required professional development and applicable trainingStay current with Texas laws, emergency planning practices, and safety technologiesPresent safety-related curriculum to students, staff, and parentsAdministrative and Strategic PlanningCoordinate strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for safety initiativesMaintain records, reports, and documentation in compliance with state and federal lawsLead or participate in district safety committees and stakeholder meetingsMaintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standardsMental Demands:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office and security equipment, including computers and surveillance systemsPosture: Frequent standing and sitting; occasional bending, stooping, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouseLifting: Occasional light lifting (up to 50 pounds)Environment: Exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions; irregular hours; districtwide and statewide travelMental Demands: High-stress emergency environments; frequent interruptions; emotional control under pressureThis document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.
