Our schools proudly embrace this linguistic and cultural diversity while striving to establish high expectations for all studentsThe Office of Student Services:The Office of Student Services (OSS) is responsible for providing a variety of supports and services to students in Cambridge Public Schools (CPS). Our programs are dedicated to ensuring equitable access and success for students with disabilities and students who have advanced learning needs.The Opportunity:The Office of Student Services is seeking a Teacher/Behavioral Specialist to support student growth and behavioral development. This role involves designing and implementing IEPs and 504 Plans, and behavior reduction programs, providing staff and parent training, and monitoring student progress. The specialist will collaborate with teachers, support staff, families, and outside organizations, participate in IEP and progress meetings, and facilitate inclusion in general education and community settings.Key Responsibilities:Provide training to staff regarding proper implementation of behavioral programming, teaching strategies, and data collectionDetermine appropriate goals/objectives for students and design effective skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs to make progress towards these goalsMonitor and support the implementation and effectiveness of skill acquisition and behavior reduction programming, and make changes/recommendations to enhance progressProvide regular consultation services to teachers and support staffFacilitate inclusion opportunities in the general education setting and community settingsParticipate in team meetings, including but not limited to IEP meetings, re-evaluations, progress meetings, and school-home carryover meetingsCollaborate with all team members, including teaching and support staff, Office of Special Education staff, specialists, parents, and outside organizationsCollaborate with specialists to implement procedures within the classroom setting to assist with carryover of skills targeted in therapy sessionsConduct functional behavior assessments, prepare and analyze resultsWrite and monitor behavior support plansProvide training to parents regarding the proper implementation of behavior management strategiesConsult with families/guardians and coordinate care/home services.Carry out other related duties as may be designatedYour Skill Set:As the incoming Behavioral Specialist, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:MA DESE License: Severe Special Needs or Moderate Special Needs preferredBCBA Board LicensureBachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or universityKnowledge of and experience working with students with social, language, and behavioral deficitsStrong working knowledge of behavioral principlesExperience with adaptive technologyExperience working in a public school setting preferredHow to Join Our Team:Apply online at www.cpsd.us.
