Precision Machine Operator - Off shift
Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & ResponsibilitiesPlano and cylinder mirrors and lens components are machined to the size requirements of drawings, engineering specifications and/or II-VI standard specifications on a diamond flycut machineAll parts must be handled in proper manner as to prevent damage to the partsMeasurement of critical dimensions of the part prior to processing to determine if the part will be within the blank specificationsResponsible for controlling and verifying part thickness and figure. Parts are routinely measured to guarantee that all parts produced meet specificationUnderstanding and utilizing the correct machine setupTool set-up for various materials is performed according to established procedures. Flywheel is accurately balanced and head tilt adjustments madeProcess notes are maintained to record key manufacturing parameters and issues. Work instructions are followed. Work order report sheets are utilized to note process variation. First time yield is accurately documentedThe operator must be able to work independently to solve minor problems on a diamond flycutter; where appropriate the nature and solution to the problem should be reported to the supervisor or shift leadProduction activities are wanded accurately. Quality documentation is completed as required and the machine maintenance and incident reports are completed when necessaryDevelop a good understanding for the QA procedures associated with testing of flycut diamond turned components.Opportunities to multitask and run multiple machines to ensure maximum production output without making errorsErrors and accidents are reported immediately to the shift lead, maintenance supervisor, or engineers. Root cause analysis and corrective actions are fully supportedOperators are required to verify all setups to ensure the machine will not crashAll Coherent and departmental safety practices and procedures are followed at all timesAll areas are maintained in an organized mannerEnsure equipment is maintained based on preventative schedulesMaintenance requirements and machine or utility anomalies are reported promptly to the supervisorEducation & ExperienceHigh school graduate or GED0-2 years’ manufacturing experience SkillsWell-developed communication and organizational skillsStrong mechanical aptitudeAbility to handle diverse detailed tasksAbility to work with minimal supervision and adjust to daily work requirementsAbility to read drawings and engineering notesMust be both team-oriented and self-motivatedCompetent math skillsStrong attention to detail and qualityDue to ITAR compliance, this position requires a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).Working ConditionsClean room environment within manufacturing plantUse of high-precision machines and metrology equipmentPhysical RequirementsLong periods of standingConsistent attention to several pieces of equipment and ability to effectively multitask on a multitude of tasksHigh degree of concentrationWorking with chemicals, cleaning solvents, toxic and hazardous materialsSafety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
