Heartland Dental is seeking a seasoned and adaptable Application Developer to join our Enterprise Applications team as we embark on a strategic journey to modernize and consolidate our application landscape into Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role is ideal for a developer with a strong foundation in C#, .NET, and SQL, who is also eager to apply and grow their cloud development skills and contribute to a forward-looking modernization strategy.You will play a key role in reimagining legacy applications, building cloud-native solutions, and helping shape our future-state architecture on GCP.To give you an idea of the team structure, you will work on a team with other application professionals including analysts and developers working on a mixture of cloud, on premise, custom, and commercial applications. You will have the opportunity to serve as part of an expanding Technology Transformation organization that supports enterprise-wide business functions.Overview of duties and responsibilitiesMaintain and support existing applications built with C#, .NET, and SQL, while contributing to their transition and modernization into cloud-native solutions on GCPSupport the modernization and consolidation of legacy applications into GCP leveraging services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, and Pub/Sub.Conduct application assessments to identify undocumented systems, legacy dependencies, and opportunities for strategic improvement or decommissioning.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient resourcing and alignment with modernization goals.Facilitate enhancements and new development to evolve the department's application portfolio in support of business needs.Partner with business stakeholders to understand goals and processes and recommend application solutions that align with strategic objectives.Contribute to the development of standards and best practices for documentation, development, and deployment processes.Monitor and evaluate the application portfolio for fit-for-purpose, scalability, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.Assist in defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of modernization efforts.Provide subject matter expertise in application tools and technologies relevant to assigned business areas.Support project management activities, including planning, coordination, and reporting, to ensure successful delivery of modernization initiatives.Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation, staying current with emerging technologies and cloud-native development practices.Other duties as assignedMinimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or 5 years' equivalent experience in lieu of a degreeMinimum of 3 years in a relevant application development roleMinimum 1 year's experience with GCP with a strong interest in deepening cloud-native development skillsProven experience in application development and support, particularly with C#, .NET, and SQL, with a focus on maintaining and transitioning legacy systems.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently diagnose issues and research effective solutionsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teamsDemonstrated ability to partner with stakeholders, including developers, business users, vendors, and IT staff, to deliver impactful solutionsHigh level of personal initiative, accountability, and sound judgment in managing tasks and priorities.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage and communicate progress on assigned workA customer service mindset and a willingness to support user training and the adoption of new or modernized solutionsEnthusiasm for continuous learning, especially in the areas of cloud technologies, application modernization, and DevOps practicesDesirable QualificationsExperience with GCP-native development, including services like Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Build, Cloud SQL, and IAM.Exposure to Terraform, Cloud Build, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.Understanding of event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging (e.g., Pub/Sub).Experience modernizing or re-platforming legacy applications.Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.Experience working in a corporate or healthcare environmentProject management exposureExperience in business process analysis, documentation, and enhancementPhysical RequirementsAbility to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
