Given the nature of summer conference housing, conference assistants should expect to work evening shifts and some hours on most weekends (checkouts) and Mondays (check-ins).Anticipated on-duty rotation hours (when scheduled) are between 5:00 pm and 8:00 am on assigned weeknights. Saturday/Sunday weekend on-duty is divided into 2) 12-hour Shifts: 8:00 am—8:00 pm and 8:00 pm—8:00 am.Conference Assistants are required to live on campus in designated rooms in housing areas being used for summer conference housing.Pay Grade Salary Hourly Pay Rate The compensation package includes: Stipend: $3,500. (Paid out over (7) two-week pay periods = approximately $1000. / month ) Housing waiver: $1988. (a room in Residence Hall 3) Dining Dollars: $400 for the summer FLSA Job Summary/Basic FunctionGeneral ResponsibilitiesConference Assistants for Housing & Residence Life will have the following responsibilities: training and information will be provided.Required training will be held during the day between May 19th and May 30th. Attend and complete all required training sessions and other tasks as necessary.Welcome guests and complete check-in and check-out procedures for conference guests and visitors.Perform customer service functions during scheduled shifts.Typical duties include answering questions about the campus and local points of interest, campus locations, hours of operation, answering phones, taking messages, and general office duties.Assist with verifying guest lists and room assignments, issuing keys, and verifying key returns according to university policies regarding key and access control.Conference Assistants may be asked to assist the full-time and contracted custodial staff with room preparation if needed. These duties typically include taking out the trash, stocking supplies in suites (toilet paper, hand soap), and some light cleaning when needed.Conduct walkthroughs of Housing facilities before and after check-in and check-out of each group to ensure the facilities are clean, furniture and equipment are accounted for and in their correct space, equipment is functioning correctly, and noting any damage or maintenance concerns, submitting work orders and documenting accordingly.Serve as a part of an on-call rotation, including conducting regularly scheduled rounds of the facilities; noting and reporting maintenance and security issues, responding to emergencies, addressing and reporting safety and behavioral concerns, and providing conference guest services, i.e. lock-outs, equipment check out, etc.Perform additional conference-related duties as may be assigned from time to time.Required QualificationsFor Consideration, Candidates Must Possess The Following QualificationsCurrent Weber State student in good academic and conduct standing. (Current student means being enrolled in at least 1 class during the summer, OR registered for fall 2026)Available to work a minimum of 25 hours per week. The majority of hours worked will be on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.Provide excellent customer service and serve as a positive ambassador for Weber State University and Housing & Residence Life.Punctual and reliable.Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking, sound judgment, and effective decision-making.Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with others.Previous experience working in customer service or office-related positions is desirable.Good verbal communication skills.This is a security-sensitive position and involves interacting with minors.
