We are building a next-generation consumer neobank that merges banking, payments, and digital assets into a single seamless product—focused on emerging markets where traditional banking fails millions. We are a small, senior-only team with no layers, no politics, and fast decisions. Every person ships product and shapes company direction. We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead core product development. You will work directly with technical founders to set standards and build a highly performant, reliable, and secure platform from the ground up.
Tech stack: Python (FastAPI) monolith
PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS(Open to Rust/Go for performance-critical services)
What you’ll do:
- Build and maintain REST APIs powering mobile & web frontends
- Integrate with banking, payments, ledger, and wallet services
- Handle real-money, international-scale complexity
- Define architecture & engineering standards
- This role may evolve into an Engineering Lead as we scale
Requirements:
- 5+ years building & shipping backend web applications
- Strong experience with Python, Go, or RustSolid across the board: Postgres, Redis, AWSBonuses (good to have):Experience in financial technology / fintech
- Full-stack skills (ability to flex across frontend when needed)
