Our structural group supports complex bridge programs-from replacements and widenings to retaining structures and staged construction-frequently for New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA). We're growing and looking for a senior technical leader to help elevate our bridge practice, mentor our team, and deliver high quality designs on schedule.As a Senior Structural Bridge Engineer, you will lead the structural design and delivery of bridges, walls, and related transportation structures; oversee analysis and plan production; drive QA/QC; and coordinate with highway, traffic, geotechnical, and water resources teams as well as subconsultants and clients.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership: Lead LRFD-based analysis and design of steel and concrete bridges, retaining walls, and ancillary transportation structures in accordance with AASHTO, NJDOT, and NJTA standards.Design Delivery: Oversee structural calculations, load ratings, plan sheets, specifications, and engineer's estimates; guide alternatives analysis and constructability for staged MPT environments.Project Coordination: Partner with project managers to plan scope, budget, and schedule; coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs; interface with clients and review agencies.Structural Assessments: Lead condition evaluations and load ratings; develop rehab/replacement recommendations with defensible calculations and clear narratives.QA/QC & Standards: Perform and/or direct independent checks; help maintain Churchill templates, details, and best-practice guidance.Mentorship: Train, review, and develop junior and mid-level engineers; model sound engineering judgment and clear technical communication.Field/Client Presence: Perform occasional site visits, meetings, and field reviews across New Jersey.Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseB.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering (M.S. preferred).P.E. license (NJ required or ability to obtain via comity within 6 months).12+ years of progressive bridge/transportation structural experience.Proficiency with AASHTOWare BrR/BrD, Bentley LARS, PennDOT Programs (e.g., ABLRFD, STLRFD, BXLRFD), LEAP Bridge (or equivalent), NSBA Splice, and LRFD methodologies.Proficiency with MicroStation (preferred) and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D for plan development.Demonstrated experience delivering NJ-based transportation projects to NJDOT/NJTA criteria.Strong written and verbal communication; proven record leading tasks and mentoring staff.Benefits
