Electrical TechnicianPosition SummaryWe are looking to fill an immediate opening for a full-time Electrical Technician supporting the facilities engineering program for a federal agency.The Electrical Technician performs all duties of an Electronics Technician I and applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex electrical and electronic problems. The role involves operating, maintaining, repairing, installing, modifying, and troubleshooting high-voltage electrical systems, power-generating equipment, substations, and distribution systems within a federal facilities environment.Employment Type: Full-Time / HourlyKey ResponsibilitiesPerform all duties of an Electronics Technician I.Apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar technical documents.Receive technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician; work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.May provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.Apply technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions.Replace components and wire circuits.Repair electrical equipment.Take test readings using common instruments such as:Digital multi-metersSignal generatorsSemiconductor testersCurve tracersOscilloscopesPerform work that is spot-checked for accuracy.Operate, maintain, and repair high voltage (600 volts and higher) systems.Test, repair, and maintain electric-generating equipment in cogeneration (diesel) and emergency power production facilitiesInstall, modify, test, repair, and troubleshoot:GeneratorsTransformersConvertersRegulatorsSwitchesCircuit breakersLightning arrestersMechanical and electronic recording instrumentsMechanical and electronic control systemsDistribution linesSubstationsPower-generating facilitiesWork from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals.Perform physical labor including walking, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, pulling, climbing ladders, and demonstrating agility/dexterity to perform assigned duties.Required Experience / SkillsMore than five (5) years of commercial journeyman-level experience.Electrical technicians operating, maintaining, and repairing high voltage (600 volts and higher) systems must:Be trained and qualified in high voltage operations.Have a minimum of two (2) years of high-voltage experience.Experience testing, repairing, and maintaining electric-generating equipment in cogeneration and emergency power production facilities generating up to 12,470 volts.Experience installing, modifying, testing, repairing, and troubleshooting generators, transformers, converters, regulators, switches, circuit breakers, lightning arresters, mechanical and electronic recording instruments, mechanical and electronic control systems of distribution lines, substations, and power-generating facilities.Experience working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals.Capable of performing physical labor including walking, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, pulling, climbing ladders, and demonstrating agility/dexterity to perform assigned duties.Comfortable with a work focus split between troubleshooting and power distribution.Preferred CertificationNICET Electrical Power Testing Certification.Preferred ExperienceExperience installing, modifying, testing, repairing, and troubleshooting generators, transformers, converters, regulators, switches, circuit breakers, lightning arresters, mechanical and electronic recording instruments, mechanical and electronic control systems of distribution lines, substations, and power-generating facilities.Experience working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals.Experience as a technician or in a position demonstrating progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical building systems and the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of various types of electrical equipment.Knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, operations, design, characteristics, and functional use of various types and models of electrical equipment and systems, related to but less than a full professional knowledge of electrical engineering.Location & Clearance RequirementsEdwards AFB, Edwards CACompensation & BenefitsCompensation: $88,000 - $90,000Health & Wellness Benefit: $18,000Total Compensation: $108,000About Lean SynergyLean Synergy Solutions is a Veteran-owned and operated recruiting firm that specializes in aligning top-tier talent with high-impact roles across a variety of industries.
