License shall be free from present or past disciplinary action in any jurisdiction.Five years of professional nursing experience in clinical nursing practice, administration, or nursing education.Qualified for Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teacher certification. Coursework for initial teacher certification must be completed within two (2) years of hire.Must be able to successfully pass a background check.Must have a minimum of Associate of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited institution of higher learningDESIRABLETeaching experience in nursing or related fieldBachelor's degree or higherAt least two years' work experience in a long-term care setting in the past five yearsTEMPORARY TEACHING CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTSOne of the following:Verification of a bachelor's degree or higher in an area appropriate for the subject area being taught, and four thousand (4000) hours of DESE-approved, related occupational experience obtained within the most recent ten (10) years; orVerification of an associate's degree in an area appropriate for the subject area being taught, and five thousand (5000) hours of DESE-approved, related occupational experience within the most recent ten (10) years;Verification of six thousand (6000) hours of DESE-approved, related occupational experience obtained within the most recent ten (10) years.Position SummaryA registered professional nurse certified as a faculty member who cooperatively functions to develop, implement, and evaluate the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the nursing program following guidelines set by the State of Missouri and Southern Missouri Technical Institute. The opening is anticipated to be for a High School Health Science block program for juniors and seniors.Essential Job DutiesMaintain and assume responsibility for the assigned classroom environment.Develop and implement daily lesson plans that follow approved curriculum, support industry standards, and are aligned with appropriate assessments.Actively engage and interact with students using intentional best practice teaching strategies.Plan and prepare the learning environment with needed materials and supplies.Develop a course syllabus for each class taught and provide a copy to students and administration at the beginning of the semester.Maintain appropriate record keeping for assigned classes to include student attendance, record of grades earned, and other related classroom information.Demonstrates professional conduct, positive attitude, and supportive culture.Effectively collaborate with colleagues and industry partners to build positive relationships within the SoMoTech environment and the community.Assist with curriculum development and modification of programs to align curriculum with industry-based demands, accreditation and certification requirements, and program operation, as necessary.Maintain confidentiality of students, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members, as well as records and all information.Assist in addressing student concerns regarding advisement, placement, and course difficulties.Works with program advisory committees; serve as partner with local industry.Facilitate student recruitment; assist in the promotion of programs.Complete professional development training hours and maintain appropriate professional certification, as necessary.Participate in professional organizations, as appropriate.Assist with textbook adoption process when needed.Sponsors student clubs and/or organizations, as appropriate.Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.Comply with SoMoTech and West Plains School District policies and procedures.Serve on committees as requested.Attend community/professional events as requested.Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.Physical Requirements
