The position will be responsible for providing individual and small group tutoring to students. The tutor will assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to clarify learning problems and work on study skills. Tutoring is a supplement to classroom teaching.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPlan and facilitate tutoring sessions utilizing collaborative learning methodologies.Assist students in the development of appropriate study skills.Maintain consistent communication with supervisory staff.Model appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors to staff, faculty and students.Provide direct tutoring services to students.Provide learning support information and assistance to students, faculty, and other College staff.Collaborate with department chairs and other faculty to develop, evaluate, and review curriculum to ensure maximum student competency.Assist in the collections, organization, and maintenance of necessary data regarding the Student Success Center support services.Provide support to faculty or College staff in the maintenance and use of the Student Success Center support data as necessary.Maintain an appropriate work schedule for tutors and student workers in the Student Success Center each semester.Establish and maintain rapport with students and faculty.Represent the College in a positive manner.Perform other duties as required by the President, Dean, and/or Student Success/ADA Coordinator.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
