Mechanical Engineer (Tooling and Equipment Design)

Location: 100% ONSITE - Foster City, California (94404)Note: Travel - up to 20% of time to service and testing siteDuration: 6 month contract - (extension potential)Pay: Negotiable depending on DIRECT related experience Up to $55 - $60/hrType: W2 contract ONLY - (C2C OR THIRD-PARTY arrangements will NOT be considered)Work Authorization: Must be currently located and authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements.As an Equipment Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and sustaining the equipment for our vehicle service centers. You will help the organization transition towards being a more production-ready company by implementing OEM-level tools and processes. RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and implement automotive assembly equipment and toolsIdentify the tooling and equipment design opportunities by aligning with teams on proposed process changes and improvementsWork cross functionally to fully develop tooling and equipment requirementsEvaluate part and assembly design, from concept to design for manufacturing introduction, for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of maintenance and repairLead the hands-on design and prototyping equipment (hand tools, jigs, fixtures, automated equipment) using CAD and supporting programsManage manufacturing partners that support us with equipment development (design, automation, fixtures, workstations, etc.)Work with equipment suppliers (internal and external) to solve ergonomic and assembly issuesContinuous update of equipment specifications and documentationDevelop equipment PMs and ensure their completion, assisting with maintenance and troubleshoot tooling-related issuesProvide comprehensive time/cost modeling that showcases opportunity to drive product and process change to support reduction in cost or complexity of repair QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience2 to 4 years of experience in a mechanical engineering or similar role, within a product design and manufacturing environmentExperience with developing automation specifications, tooling and fixture design, and lift assists/industrial manipulatorsExperience with Catia, Solidworks, Auto CAD, & SAP is a plusAble to work independently with minimal supervisionExperience with presenting cost-analysis of new process and equipments*** Kelly does not expense relocation/interview costs. ***Important information: To be immediately considered, please send an updated version of your resume to .
