Job Title: Network Administrator I Wage/Hour Status: ExemptReports to: Infrastructure Coordinator Pay Grade: AP2Dept./School: Technology Services Date Revised: April 9, 2026Primary PurposeSupport the district's network infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient connectivity for campuses and administrative facilities. Assist with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic administration of network systems that support instructional and business operations across the district.QualificationsEducation/Certification:High school diploma or GED requiredAssociate's degree in information technology, networking, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experienceCompTIA Network+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred, or equivalent networking experienceExperienceOne to two years of experience in technology support, networking, or a related field preferredKnowledge And SkillsUnderstanding of networking fundamentals including:Switching and VLAN configurationIP addressing and subnettingDNS and DHCP servicesWireless networkingPower over Ethernet (PoE)Basic routing conceptsNetwork authentication such as RADIUS or 802.1XNetwork security concepts including access control lists (ACLs)Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity by verifying switch port configuration, VLAN assignments, PoE status, and wireless connectivityAbility to prioritize support requests and communicate clearly with staff and vendorsDemonstrates initiative in learning networking technologies and developing technical skills through training, certifications, self-study, or hands-on lab experienceMajor Responsibilities And DutiesNetworking SupportTroubleshoot network connectivity issues across district campuses and facilitiesAssist with switch port configuration, VLAN assignments, and basic routing changes under direction of senior network staffAssist with troubleshooting issues related to DNS, DHCP, wireless connectivity, network authentication, and access control policiesSupport network connectivity for voice, video, and other IP-based communication systems, including VoIP phonesFollow district standards and procedures for secure network access and device connectivityWireless and Device ConnectivityTroubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity issues for district devices and network-connected systemsAssist with installation, replacement, and testing of network-connected equipmentHelp verify wireless access point operation, coverage, and client connectivityNetwork InfrastructureInstall, configure, replace, and maintain network infrastructure equipment such as switches, wireless access points, patch panels, and related hardwareTravel to campuses, IDFs, MDFs, and equipment rooms to troubleshoot outages and replace network equipment as neededAssist with rack installation, cable management, patching, labeling, and organization of network closetsTrace, test, and verify copper and fiber cabling when diagnosing connectivity issuesAssist with monitoring and basic troubleshooting of UPS devices and other supporting network power systemsOperations and SupportRespond to and prioritize assigned support tickets and follow issues through resolutionWork with campus and department staff to address connectivity concerns and improve network reliabilityMaintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams, inventory, labels, and configuration recordsWork with vendors, service providers, and internal staff to resolve network issues and escalate more complex problems when neededParticipate in scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and implementation projectsAssist with troubleshooting network outages and service disruptions after hours when necessaryFollow district technology standards, safety procedures, and network security practicesPerform other duties as assignedWorking ConditionsWork is performed in office, campus, data center, and network closet environments. Travel between district locations is required. Occasional evening or after-hours work may be required to perform maintenance or respond to network outages.Physical DemandsOccasional lifting and moving of equipment up to 50 pounds.
