SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Provide comprehensive general internal medicine coverage for patients admitted to the unassigned service Perform admission evaluation or admit and manage patients at the request of primary care physicians Provide general internal medicine consultative services for patients in the Emergency Center and non-medical services Coordinate care with appropriate specialty physicians Maintain professional, cordial, and productive working relationships with nursing and ancillary staff Communicate effectively with all Hospital employees, clinical staff members and physicians Contact primary care and/or specialty physician at the time of discharge to relay pertinent clinical information Provide clinical oversight of Hospital patients under the care of the Hospitalist Service and for all providers rendering care to such patients Document all patient encounters in the medical record appropriately, legibly and on a timely basis Complete appropriate encounter forms or complete computer billing entry on a daily basis Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion Complete admission and discharge abstracts in a timely fashion Provide Infusion Center medical back-up Provide other necessary and appropriate inpatient services such as initial response to Code 99 and death pronouncements Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Hospitalist Medical Director As part of the Hospital?s Quality Improvement Program, collect appropriate clinical information on an as needed basis Participate in the Hospital?s Quality Improvement Program in conjunction with Medical Director and other members of the Hospitalist Service. Qualifications Board Eligible (must be certified within 5 years of Residency Completion) or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
