Full Time Maintenance Work/Grounds Equipment Maintenance
DescriptionThis position performs a wide range of facilities services tasks including preventative maintenance and repair of gasoline/small engines, non-technical of plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, and/or air conditioning facilities and equipment, at a level not requiring formal licensure. May be required to perform tasks of other unlicensed trades, such as a light equipment operator, carpenter, painter, and/or locksmith and grounds-keeping.Job DutiesDemonstrate IWCC’s core mission, vision and valuesPerform a wide range of non-technical maintenanceMaintaining grounds and operating mowersDiagnose, repair, and maintain gasoline/small engines (mowers, decks, brooms, snow plow/blades, chain saws, trimmers, edger’s)Preventative maintenance, perform routine servicing (lubrication, oil changes, spark plugs, filter replacements)Replace worn parts, reassemble components, and adjust systems to specifications.Keep detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used.Ability to do tasks as assigned in an efficient and timely manner with little supervision. May preform general maintenance tasks.Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practicesMonitors and performs non-technical standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems, such as bulbs, fixtures, switches, photo cells, and outlets; assists licensed electricians as appropriateMonitors and performs non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, to include standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, and/or performing non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply systems; assists licensed plumbers, as appropriatePerforms carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, and door and hardware installation, paints interior and exterior finishes, as appropriatePerforms snow removal, as neededOther duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDAbility to understand and follow specific instructions and proceduresAbility to present information both verbally and in writing in a professional manner and good record keeping skillsUnderstand written instructions and complete appropriate documentation as neededKnowledge of small engine mechanics, fuel systems, and electrical systems.Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to tradeAbility to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures, including Lockout/Tag outWear/use PPE at all times when neededSkill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environmentWork in a cooperative manner with management, co-workers, internal/external customers and vendorsAbility to pass a background check, have a valid U.S Driver’s License and a good driving recordAbility to pass a drug screen & pre-employment physical if applicableTraining RequirementsIowa Western Community College provides training ensure employee safetyPhysical DemandsNormal Office to Heavy work (lift 30-50 lbs.)Other Physical Requirements (note)The employee frequently is required to stand for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with internal and external customers, listen to and respond accurate information and directions.
