Database Administrator (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Hadoop/Cloudera)Job Description:We are looking for experienced DBAs who will assist our client to manage hundreds of production and development databases in a fast-paced environment where almost every major database engine is in the mix. Using a combination of well-tested automation tools and best practices, you will support existing systems, create new ones, and manage the patch and upgrade lifecycle for over 30 different businesses and thousands of developers. This is an excellent opportunity for a DBA who has mastered one or two database engines and wants a chance to learn others in real-life use cases.Responsibilities:Creating, tuning, and managing databases running on a variety of enginesWorking within the DBA team, as well as with the IT ops team, to create and improve automation processes for database and storage administrationEnsuring uptime for production databasesProviding on-call coverage as part of a support rotationRequired skills:Substantial MySQL and PostgreSQL database administrator skillsFamiliarity with Linux CLI tools, system administration basics, volume management, and permissions modelsA history of success collaborating with operations teams, network engineers, and developersExperience troubleshooting and resolving complex database issuesStrong written and verbal communication skillsIntermediate-level bash scriptingNice to have:Ideally you’d also have:Experience administering any of Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), Oracle, Cloudera, or vanilla HadoopExperience with orchestration systems such as Chef, Puppet or AnsibleEnthusiasm to learn and apply new technologiesAbout the opportunity:Our client is a rapidly-growing, financially stable conglomerate with dozens of businesses focused on health, legal, auto, and homeWe offer full-time employment in your home country, including health care benefits in most cases
