Structural Cable Installer (Houston)
Network Cabling Services (NCS) is seeking a motivated Cable Installer to support the installation of voice, data, and fiber optic cabling systems across commercial, industrial, and institutional environments. This is an entry-level role designed for individuals looking to build a career in structured cabling and low-voltage systems.
Under the guidance of experienced technicians, the apprentice will gain hands-on experience in installing, terminating, labeling, and testing copper and fiber optic cabling while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with pulling, routing, and securing low-voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, coaxial, etc.)
Support cable termination and testing for both copper and fiber systems
Learn to read and interpret blueprints, pathway layouts, and job site drawings
Install cable pathway systems including J-hooks, cable trays, conduit, and raceways
Label cables and document installations and test results per project requirements
Assist with troubleshooting and basic repair tasks under supervision
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred
Strong willingness to learn and grow in the structured cabling industry
Basic knowledge of hand tools and construction environments is a plus
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
Valid driver’s license preferred
