See recruiter for eligibility details.]Job Summary: The Staff/Senior Transmission Engineer will work on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects, including underground and overhead high voltage transmission lines (765kV). The Staff/Senior Transmission Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting transmission plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.Key Responsibilities:Perform transmission design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completionModify and review transmission components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managersPrepare transmission equipment: packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendationsPerform economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance, and grounding calculations/studiesCompile calculations for required electrical clearances based on NESC or other applicable codes and resourcesPrepare communications of the interpretation and application of necessary NERC, FERC, and regional requirements and standardsResearch and compile project-related data as required by the project managersCompiles studies and reportsWrites specificationsUpdate drawings provided by senior engineers to verify that corrections are made within multiple CAD-related softwarePerforms field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clientsPerforms other duties as assignedComplies with all policies and standardsRequired Skills:Substantial 765kV experienceStrong knowledge in standard civil/structural engineering techniques and proceduresExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment, and demonstrated critical thinking skillsStrong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)Strong computer skills (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, transmission analysis programsStrong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of commonly used transmission engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the transmission engineering services industryPreferred Skills:Engineers in Training (EIT) CertificationEducation Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program; OR Bachelor's Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam; OR Master's Degree in Civil EngineeringRequired Experience:Minimum 3 years of transmission engineering experience (Consulting preferred) with Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from ABET-accredited programOR Minimum 3 years of transmission engineering experience (Consulting preferred) with Bachelor's Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examOR Minimum 2 years of transmission engineering experience (Consulting preferred) with Master's Degree in Civil EngineeringInternship experience does not count towards years of experience requirementAbout the Client: Infrastructure Engineering Firm We design and build essential infrastructure for cities.
