You’ll spend your day working harder than you’ve ever worked before with kids who are highly engaged and ready to learn! You’ll inspire creativity, build confidence and help kids imagine themselves in the tech-driven jobs of the future. You’ll be a guru, role model, ambassador, facilitator, and collaborator. Your role will be to not only help these kids learn all about computer programming through our curriculum, but also to ensure their safety while they are with us. As an assistant instructor, you will work closely with the lead instructor. Your work will be to facilitate student engagement – scaling up or down based on the individual student interest and skill levels. You’ll also help with classroom management.
You’ll be responsible for guiding groups of K-12 students by working one on one with students as they learn. Create an inclusive atmosphere where every student is respected and appreciated for their own talents and individuality.
KEY SKILLS:
Teaching experience: Experience with and interest in working with kids in education, childhood development or other educational environments.
Experience with computer programming languages (block-based and text-based) required.
Experience teaching/leading school-aged children in hands-on activities and youth supervisory experience preferred.
Experience working with diverse racial and socio-economic backgrounds.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
First aid/CPR certified or willing to be certified.

Reliable transportation and willingness to commute to various San Antonio area locations
Must pass a Criminal Background Check and Child Protection Training prior to employment.
Ability to lift at least 20 lbs. (when camps are in-person)
Ability to complete other duties, as assigned.
HOURS:
10-15 hours a week, M-F, with occasional weekend opportunities.
Youth Code Jam regular office hours are 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. During the school year clubs and camps typically run before and after school hours, September through May, and all day during the summer hours, June through August. Employees are expected to arrive 30-60 minutes before the start of each program, and stay on-site at the end of the session and the room and equipment are secured.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
