Monitors overall performance to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies, practices, and approved pharmaceutical processes. This role may work in the following business areas: Quality and Compliance, Inventory Management, Medication Management, and Enterprise Pharmacy Operations. Serves as an integral member of Mass General's interdisciplinary Excellence Everyday Team, responsible for auditing medication storage sites (inpatient, ambulatory, and procedural) in accordance with established standards, procedures, and policies set by local, state, and federal regulatory bodies.Does this position require Patient Care?NoEssential FunctionsPerforms risk assessments of medication-related matters and provides pharmacy-related knowledge and support to clinicians, as appropriate.Makes recommendations to managers regarding changes to improve operating procedures and facilitate safe medication practices.Assists managers and supervisors in developing action plans based on audit results, identifying opportunities for process improvement, facility modifications, and additional employee education.Works closely with vendors to conduct monthly onsite monitoring, biannual room and equipment certifications, review invoices for appropriate services, and address inconsistencies.Audits medication storage areas using data collection tools, participates in interdisciplinary tracers and surveillance rounds, and briefs area leadership on opportunities for improvement in accordance with standards established by the The Joint Commission (TJC) and state and federal regulations.QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent required and Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferredCan this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?NoLicenses and CredentialsPharmacy Technician [State License] - Generic - HR Only requiredPharmacy Technician Certification [CPhT] - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) requiredExperiencePharmacy Technician experience 3-5 years requiredKnowledge, Skills And Abilities Attention to detail.
