Information Governance File Review Staff Attorney
Cooley is seeking an IG File Review Staff attorney to join the Information Governance & Privacy team.Position summary: Cooley Technology embraces a culture of customer service excellence, and all members of the department are expected to move this agenda forward. To that end, the IG File Review Staff Attorney is responsible for utilizing software and document review workflows to gather and review large amounts of electronic and physical records in connection with client file transfers, legal holds, and other IG review functions. This role will use substantive skills and professional maturity to operate independently with minimal guidance from the IG Compliance Manager. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Position responsibilities:Perform substantive document review of both physical and electronic recordsReview and code documents for responsiveness, relevancy, confidentiality, risk management issues and privilegeReview and analyze information to help determine its relevance to a caseUtilize e-discovery software to narrow review and tag documentsAssist with legal hold reviewsParticipate in special projects as assigned by the IG Compliance ManagerWork with members of the office of the General Counsel as necessary regarding risk management issuesAll other duties as assigned or requiredSkills and experience:Required:After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applicationsAbility to work extended and/or weekend hours, as requiredAbility to travel, as required5+ years of experience with document review and workflowsJD DegreeWillingness to maintain continuing education and training specific to professional skills development commensurate with records and information management industry and responsibilities of positionProficiency in Relativity and other eDiscovery softwareAbility to use PC-based and on-line technology relevant to job.
