Component Engineer

Job Description Description: Role Summary If you are an Electrical Engineer with a solid understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical components, design specifications, and testing procedures, if you are also detail-oriented, and experienced in issue diagnosis and resolution, this role may be for you. Please read on: As a Component Engineer at Rand Technology, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical support across various aspects of electronic and electro-mechanical components. Your responsibilities include assisting sales, purchasing, and customers with technical inquiries, inspecting and validating components, supporting testing and troubleshooting efforts, and collaborating on data analytics projects. Additionally, you will be involved in component selection, communicating with manufacturers, diagnosing and resolving issues, and creating comprehensive documentation. This role is based in our office in Amsterdam . Essential Functions * Technical Support to sales, purchasing and customers: Serve as the primary point of contact for all technical electronic and electro-mechanical component support questions regarding part numbers, part specifications, part number verification, marking and label verification, date code decoding, mechanical and compliance characteristics, manufacturing, assembly and testing, technical bulletins, PCNs, lifecycle, etc. Find part number crosses/replacements to meet customer requirements and create detailed analysis reports. Assist customers with new parts design-ins based on design specifications. * Customer Communication: Respond to technical component inquiries and ensure accuracy of Rand Technology orders. * Technical Support to Quality Control: Inspect and validate electronic and electro-mechanical components. Review and create component inspection procedures. Respond to non-conformances and discrepancies, analyze, and document inspector findings and troubleshoot technical issues related to inspections and quality control. * Technical Support to Testing and Troubleshooting: Support in-house testing of electronic components for compliance with specifications. Create and review testing procedures. Troubleshoot issues and recommend test modifications as needed. * Technical Support to Analytics Team: Collaborate on data analytics projects as related to components related information. * Component Selection: Select appropriate electronic and electro-mechanical components based on customer requirements. * Original Manufacturer Communications: Contact component manufacturer support for technical documents and component related issues. * Issue Diagnosis and Resolution: Support NCs, RMAs and MRB. Resolution of inspection discrepancies and non-conformances. Support to purchasing for supplier issues. Diagnose technical issues related to customer component use. Provide effective resolutions to end-users issues. Provide FA support. * Documentation: Create documentation for end-users, spreadsheets with technical analysis. Core Competencies * A solid understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical component datasheet specifications. * Understanding of Electronics Principles, Schematics, Circuit Design and layouts, technologies, product families, component manufacturing, assembly, testing and applications. * Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to analyze complex electronic components, identify issues, and propose effective solutions. * Familiarity with various tools and electronic component testing instruments usage, particularly related to determining authenticity and quality. * Understanding of and experience in a certified environment preferred - including ISO9001, ISO14001, ESD S20.20, and AS6081. * Attention to Detail: Precision in component analysis, selection and testing. * Critical Thinking: Apply logical reasoning to diagnose problems and find solutions. * Communication Skills: Effective communication with team members, vendors, and clients. * A positive can-do attitude. * Adaptable to change. * Works well under pressure. * Reliable and punctual. Requirements: Education and/or Experience * Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering. Advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous. * 5-7 years of electrical engineering experience including electronic components, PCBA, electronic manufacturing, OEM or ODM * Refined practical skillset with electronic assemblies advantageous as is firsthand knowledge of analog and digital electronics. * Ability to work onsite at the Rand Technology office in Amsterdam (great central location accessible via car, and public transport)
