Java Developer for AI System Training

Role Overview Build and maintain scalable Java backend systems that provide high-quality, real-world input used to train and evaluate next-generation AI models. Your Java and Spring Boot expertise will shape how models learn, reason, and perform, even if you have no prior AI experience. This role contributes domain knowledge and engineering quality to a growing human intelligence layer for frontier AI.About the organization: micro1 is an AI data lab that converts subject matter expertise across domains such as finance, healthcare, and engineering into training data, evaluations, and feedback loops that improve model behavior. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot.Architect and implement microservices solutions to meet complex application requirements.Work with the customer team to review technical specifications and deliver production-quality code.Contribute technical insights to improve application performance, reliability, and security.Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.Document technical designs, processes, and solutions with clear, concise writing.Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend systems as issues arise. Qualifications RequiredExpert proficiency in Java programming.Hands-on experience with Spring Boot for backend development.Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and design principles.Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.Solid understanding of REST APIs, data structures, and backend best practices.Exceptional written and verbal communication, with attention to detail.Experience collaborating with remote teams in a fast-paced environment.PreferredFamiliarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.Prior work on AI-driven or data-intensive projects.Background in high-availability or distributed systems. Work Terms Engagement type: Contractor, remote.No prior AI experience required, domain knowledge and engineering skills are the primary need.Collaboration expected with the customer team and remote colleagues. Compensation $30 - $90 per hour. Eligibility Open to candidates who can work as independent contractors.Must be able to collaborate effectively with remote teams and meet contractual commitments.
