Material Technician Kimber Mfg., Inc.Location: Troy, ALClassification: Non-ExemptGrade: HourlyDepartment: Packing, Shipping, WarehouseReports To: Shipping/Warehouse SupervisorSUMMARY/OBJECTIVEThe Material Technician is a key factory staff member responsible for providing required material needed to meet production goals as well as maintain the accuracy of inventory records in the ERP system that support the Shipping and Warehouse departments within Kimber Manufacturing. The Material Technician will work in concert with cross-functional teams and other departments to provide support in achieving quality goals defined and established by upper management.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESFill material requests by picking parts from the warehouse and moving them to assigned locationMove non-conforming parts to proper holding areaMaintain control and inventory accuracy of serialized productEnsure material is properly tagged and adjustments are made as neededMaintain accuracy of the parts inventory records by entering inventory transactions in the ERP system and performing and reconciling cycle countsExpedite parts from Production, Purchasing, QC and other Kimber WarehousesWork with Planning, Engineering and QC to control inventory for ECNs, testing and recallsThis position works with internal contacts in order to accomplish the objective such as Assembly, Compliance, Engineering, Inventory Control, Planning, Production, Purchasing, QC and WarehouseHousekeeping duties include all forms of shipping and warehouse cleanup but not limited to waste, wood, general refuse disposal, wiping, wet and dry cleaning, sweeping and/or mopping inside and outsideAbility to learn and operate hand truck, cart, dollies, forklift, "man-up" order-picker, to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipmentEfficiently and effectively communicate and notify supervisor all matters that affect productivityStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (word and excel)Trouble shoot various problems and develop corrective action to prevent reoccurrenceAdhere and monitor SOPUnderstand/ learn the nature and functionality of the products being handledMust be able to accurately input all required data into the manufacturing databaseComplete other duties as assigned by managerSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONSProper material handling and inventory control in a manufacturing environmentAbility to successfully work in a high volume manufacturing environmentMaintain accurate cycle countingExperience performing computerized inventory transactionsCross functional team builder/player with high levels of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasmMust be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast work environment that has the potential to change due to regulatory and business needsNeed to be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to multi-taskExperience working independently with little supervisionExcellent communication skills both verbal and writtenEDUCATION/EXPERIENCERequired: High School Diploma or GEDPreferred: Vocational/Technical DegreePreferred: Material Handling Equipment CertificationPreferred: Computer/Software proficiencyPreferred: Lean manufacturing experienceMATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as consistent accountability and probability. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITYAbility to collect and document dataAbility to follow written and oral instructionsAbility to perform complex and varied tasksAbility to perform simple, repetitive tasks for an extended period of timeCOMPUTER SKILLSRequired knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word using MS Windows platform. MS PowerPoint and MS Access experience is a plus.
