Banquet Supervisor/ Captain
JOB SUMMARY:The Banquet Supervisor oversees and directs all banquet activities including dinners & special events. The banquet supervisor leads the banquet staff and ensures guest have a positive customer experience throughout their event. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:• Provide guidance and direction to banquet staff throughout the duration of scheduled events ensuring exceptional customer service and guest satisfaction. • Provide training opportunities, mentorship, and guidance to banquet staff. • Create a positive work environment by encouraging teamwork amongst employees. • Collaborate with managers, directors, and banquet staff to ensure a successful event outcome. • Must attend weekly BEO meetings and provide feedback as needed. • Assist staff with the setup and breakdown of the banquet area. • Assist in coordinating employee & event schedules. • Maintain departmental procedures and policies. • Manage inventory of supplies. • Prepare accurate event reports. • Closely monitor guests and anticipate their needs. • Be aware of guest's allergies and relay them to the kitchen staff before catering is prepared. • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and awareness of sanitary practices. • Proactively handle guest complaints and seek solutions to resolve issues. • Perform other duties as assigned. SKILL REQUIREMENTS:• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language. • Ability to lead and manage banquets & special events. • Maintain composure and objectivity when under pressure. • Possess excellent communication skills interacting effectively with the staff, guests and other departments. • Work with and understand reports and financial information. • Ability to learn hotel computer software programs. • Maintain a warm, friendly, professional demeanor and strong sense of confidentiality. • Approach all encounters with guests and team members in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner. • Strong communication skills to train and motivate employees. • Strong time management skills and accuracy to deal with a variety of duties and prepare reports according to schedule.
