Lead Software Engineer – Python/React

This role provides strategic and operational leadership for end-to-end payroll delivery across EMEA. It is responsible for guiding the EMEA payroll team to execute accurate, timely, compliant, and well-controlled payroll services for all employee populations in the region. Working in close partnership with HR, Finance, Accounting, Legal, IT, and COE teams, this role ensures global process harmonization, develops and maintains documentation and localized work instructions, and leads system enhancements, integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position champions innovative and automated solutions that strengthen standardization and elevate process efficiency.Through strong cross-functional collaboration and governance, this role safeguards operational excellence, supports organizational transformation, and fosters a high-performing team that delivers consistent, scalable, and customer-centered payroll services.Key ResponsibilitiesManage team development and operational governance, including hiring, training, documentation, budget oversight, and long-term scalability.Drive standardized processes and operational excellence, implementing efficient practices, strong controls, and quality assurance across payroll activities.Maintain compliant payroll operations, ensuring adherence to local legislation, regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and best-practice standards.Oversee all EMEA payroll processing, ensuring timely, accurate payroll execution, reconciliations, taxation, statutory reporting, and audit readiness.Lead system improvements, upgrades, and integrations, including M&A-related data migration, payroll onboarding, and continuous improvement initiatives.Partner with COEs, HR, Finance, Accounting, Legal, IT, and vendors to coordinate compensation, rewards, payroll accuracy, and cross-functional alignment, while actively shaping and strengthening vendor performance through consistent feedback and accountability.Resolve complex payroll inquiries, supporting employees and leaders while promoting a positive employee experience.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Accounting, Business, Organizational Management, or a comparable discipline, or related field experience.HR qualification through degree, master's, SHRM, CIPD, or equivalent preferred.Knowledge of multi-country payroll processing, payroll taxes, and compliance within the EMEA region.Experience Required3+ years of people management experience.HR management and remote site management, preferably within an international context.Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant employment, payroll, and tax laws and regulations.Data analysis, conflict resolution, and decision-making capabilities.PreferredExperience with one or more HR/Payroll systems, with UKG preferred.Manufacturing payroll experience.Knowledge of multi-country payroll, payroll taxes, and compliance in the EMEA region.
