This role primarily focuses on electrical and control panel design, including component selection, schematics, panel layouts, and technical documentation, while ensuring compliance with applicable safety and industry standards. The Process Controls Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to support successful project execution, testing, and commissioning activities, while also assisting with PLC/HMI programming and controls integration as experience develops over time.Essential Job ResponsibilitiesCreate comprehensive electrical designs for industrial control panels that adhere to relevant industry standards, company guidelines, and customer specifications. This includes selecting appropriate components, creating schematics, and generating detailed layout drawings.Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to integrate electrical designs with overall control systems, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between different components.Ensure that all control panel designs meet local and international electrical safety standards, such as NEC, UL, IEC, and CE. Perform thorough risk assessments and implement safety measures to prevent hazards.Research, evaluate, and select electrical components, such as circuit breakers, relays, transformers, PLCs, HMIs, and other relevant hardware required for the control panel design.Develop quotes for controls portion of Capital Water projects as well as projects for other industries.Prepare accurate and detailed documentation for all design activities, including bill of materials (BOM), wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and user manuals.Assist in the testing and commissioning of control panels, troubleshooting any electrical issues, and ensuring proper functionality before delivery to clients.Support PLC/HMI programming and controls integration activities as needed, while continuing to develop programming knowledge and capabilities over time.Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical designers, software engineers, project managers, and clients, to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project timelines.Manage the online parts library.Work hours necessary to support Company demand.Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines.Perform other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering fieldTwo (2) years of engineering, process design, electrical design, controls design, or related industrial experienceKnowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) softwareFamiliarity with electrical design softwareBasic understanding of electrical principles and standardsKnowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant regulations (UL)Excellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong communication (written and verbal) and teamwork abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprintsAttention to detail and accuracy in design workStrong organizational and multitasking skillsFamiliarity with safety protocols and procedures related to electrical workPreferred QualificationsTwo (2) plus years of engineering, process design, electrical design, controls design, or related industrial experienceFamiliarity with ePlan CAD and/or Visio Design SoftwarePrevious experience in designing electrical systems for commercial and industrial projectsPrior work experience in industrial water treatment or related industryCompensation & BenefitsThe anticipated salary rangefor this position is $70,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
