Position: School Resource OfficerReports to: The Head of SchoolsPrimary ResponsibilityThe School Resource Officer (SRO) is responsible for the safety and well-being of students, staff, and families at TPCS. Qualifications5-10 years of experience in Law Enforcement1-3 years of experience with kids and youth within a school or church settingCounseling experience is a plusMental Health First Aid training preferredSRO training requiredQualifying CharacteristicsThe SRO is a Christian with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ in both their professional and personal life, with a calling and commitment to Christian education. The ideal candidate must have the desire to work closely with and nurture a positive relationship with students, staff, parents, school administrators, and community members. The candidate must demonstrate respect for all students and community members. As an employee at TPCS, you are expected to instruct and model important religious functions that include Bible instruction, prayer, participation in weekly chapels, and other religious duties. At TPCS, your role involves a pastoral element whereby, through example and direct instruction, you are acting as a minister of our Christian faith. ResponsibilitiesTo the best of the SRO’s ability, safeguard the students, staff, families, and community at TPCS. Foster relationships with the students, staff, families, and community at TPCS. Deterring acts of vandalism, graffiti, burglary, trespassing, and other hazardous, criminal, or authorized activities. Conduct security patrolsRespond to emergency situations and report as needed. Patrol the schools to detect and prevent criminal or unauthorized activities. Monitor parking areasMaintain safe traffic around the schools and assist with drop off and pick up. Lead and participate in the Safety CommitteeProvide training to staff on emergency situations. Attend extracurricular activities and events, when needed, at the school.Work collaboratively with the Head of School, Principals, and staff to create a safe and healthy school. Define and address safety and security measures, as needed, within the schools and assist with implementation. SRO must wear the regular police patrol uniform and drive a fully equipped patrol vehicle.Summer duties as assigned.Other duties as assigned. Exempt, salary - 10-month employee.
