About The Role:
We are seeking an experienced WordPress Developer to join our team and build custom, high-performing websites based on Figma designs. The ideal candidate will possess strong fundamentals in web development, an eye for detail, and extensive experience creating responsive, accessible, and pixel-perfect websites. You will be responsible for developing custom WordPress themes from design through launch, ensuring clean, efficient, and maintainable code that adheres to established development standards. Our team embraces modern tools, including AI-assisted development, while maintaining a deep understanding of the code we write. This is a hybrid position requiring onsite presence in our San Diego office two days per week.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of professional web development experience
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and WordPressExperience developing custom WordPress themes and templates
- Advanced CSS skills for complex layouts without relying on frameworks such as Bootstrap or Skeleton
- Proficiency in translating Figma designs into responsive, pixel-perfect websites
- Understanding of website performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, SEO, and accessibility best practices
- Experience with version control systems, specifically Git, and modern development workflows
- Strong debugging, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing website hosting, staging environments, and deployment processes
Preferred: Experience with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) and Gravity Forms plugins
Preferred: Familiarity with Tailwind CSS, Sass, Twig/Timber, or similar tools
Preferred:
Experience with modern build tools and third-party API integrations, including CRM systems
Preferred: Experience using AI-assisted development tools
Preferred: Understanding of DNS management
Responsibilities:
- Develop custom WordPress website themes from initial design through to launch
- Translate Figma designs into responsive, pixel-perfect websites that meet design specifications
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following established development standards and best practices
- Optimize website performance focusing on page speed, Core Web Vitals, SEO, and accessibility compliance
- Collaborate closely with designers, developers, and project managers to ensure alignment and quality delivery
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure cross-browser compatibility across multiple devices and platforms
- Maintain and manage hosting environments, staging sites, and deployment workflows
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes
