Their systems combine acoustic sensing with embedded Linux single-board computers, performing on-device inference and feeding real-time data to cloud backends for enterprise customers.The edge engineering team is currently small, with deep technical knowledge concentrated in very few individuals. This hire will work directly alongside the team's senior embedded engineer to build redundancy and expand in-house capability, with potential for a second hire later this year.Key Responsibilities:Support and grow a lean edge engineering function, reducing key-person dependency on the existing teamDesign, integrate, and qualify hardware components on embedded Linux SBC platforms, with a focus on acoustic/audio sensing systemsDevelop and maintain C/C++ software for real-time, on-device inference, including audio signal processing pipelines, with some assembly workOwn CI/CD pipelines and build/release processes for embedded deploymentsApply networking and security best practices across edge-to-cloud data pipelinesWork directly with hardware designers to prototype and qualify new sensor componentsIdeal Profile:Background in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field strongly preferredMeaningful experience in audio engineering or acoustic/DSP signal processing is a core requirement, not a nice-to-haveBroad systems thinker, comfortable working across hardware and softwareStrong Linux and C/C++ skills; assembly language experience a plusSolid grounding in CI/CD, networking, and security fundamentalsAble to communicate effectively with hardware design teamsBased in the San Francisco Bay Area; no visa sponsorship availableThis is a rare opportunity to join a small, high-trust edge engineering team at an established company with a well-proven, sensor-driven product line, with real influence over how the team is built out.APPLY NOW to discuss further details.5V Tech are acting as an Employment Agency for the purposes of this position.
